My 1966 Pro-Mod car

How I acquired this car:

A friend had been looking for a new transmission for his race car, so I decided to post a wanted ad on Cal-Look.com for a close ratio trans with all the goodies. A few days later, I received an e-mail from Eddie Boyle who lives in Lodi, California. He stated that he had a built trans for sale that was in an old race car and would be willing to sell the trans and car to me for $1,000.00...I figured it must be pretty thrashed so I asked him to send a few pictures. From the pictures he sent, I decided that the car might be something to check out...so, I hooked up the trailer and took the drive up north. When he opened the storage garage...I couldn't believe how nice and complete the car was...and even though it looked like it needed some upgrades, I didn't hesitate to load it up and bring it back home.

This is what it looked like when I brought it home

I decided to use #187...because I'm out to kill the competition!!!

Check out some of the stuff that came with the car:

The car came with an old Empi fiberglass front end that had tilt brackets welded to the front beam, 2" wider fiberglass rear fenders, a one piece fiberglass '67 decklid/apron combo that I have never seen on another car before, 4" Centerlines up front, and 6" Centerlines on the rear with M&H slicks...

Check out the stout cage work that is in the car...

I've decided that since I was going to re-build the car to fit my needs, I would have the rear torsion raised 3" and the transmission another 1" so the car would launch like a "Super Street" car and have that Pro-Stock look so while I'm doing the chassis modifications, I will be welding the down bars ontop of the frame horns where they belong.

Plans and progress of the car

I plan on narrowing the front beam about 4" and installing 3" dropped spindles. I will be raising the rear torsion 3" and cleaning up the cage. I put the front end and all the rear fiberglass on dzus fasteners so that everything is easy to remove at the track. I purchased a new set of Lexan windows for the new look. I plan on stuffing an 8.5" slick on the rear to get the power to the ground.

Original cage and frame horn set up

This is the Chris Alston cage that I'll be modifying so that it ties in on top of the frame horns instaed of the bracket.

My new wing

Since I plan on hauling ass with this car, I figured it would be safer to stabalize the car at higher speeds so I had my buddy fabricate this nice wing that I mounted with dzus fasteners.
